Who is Stephen King?

Stephen King was born in Portland, Maine on September 21st, 1947 to father Donald King and mother Nellie Ruth Pillsbury. Stephen King has written more than 40 books, including a 7 part series of novels, a 6 part serial novel, and numerous short stories, he is amongst the worlds most popular all time writers, and is undoubtedly the worlds leading horror writer. Mr. King has provided his readers with a sense of horror and suspense that no other writer has been capable of matching.

More Information On Author Stephen King

A lot of Stephen King’s works early on were science fiction based, but due to his lack of scientific grounding, much of the detail was lacking. King’s interest in writing horror based material surfaced in 1959 after finding an old box of science fiction & horror magazines at his Aunt’s home. He was inspired by such writers as Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Jack Finney, and Robert Bloch. His first endeavor into horror writing was when he published “I Was A Teenage Grave Robber” in Comic’s Review later in that same year. Although getting published early on, his first professional work would not be published until 1967 when he submitted “The Glass Floor” to Startling Mystery Stories, another publication he read often.
